Take a Break Tours - Soweto

Take a Break Tours offers you a Soweto Township Tour

Description

Visitors are amazed at the friendliness of the Soweto people. They are all surprised at how safe they feel and we often see them talking and joking with the local people during the trip. We stop at one of the shabeens for a beer or a full meal prepared by the family.

Another highlight of the soweto township day tour is a visit to a crèche in one of the squatter camps in Soweto. The little ones are a delightful and their singing is magical. Here too is a rehabilitation centre for youngsters of the area who have suffered from the effects of abuse in the early childhood. Donations of books, kids clothes and mielie meal (a staple diet of the African people) are always greatly appreciated, as they don’t get assistance from the government.

We also encourage people to send any cash donations to the NELSON MANDELA CHILDRENS FUND

Early Johannesburg developed from a tent camp to iron shanties, to low brick buildings and in doing so many slumyards were created, they were squalid and overcrowded, this is the start to the History of Soweto
